Snowbears Have Great Night - Stars Don't
December 24, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Los Angeles Aftershock News Release
Los Angeles, CA. Burrel Lee, GM/Coach of the Los Angeles Stars was ready for the league-leading Utah Snowbears and fully expected to hand them their first loss of the season. It didn't happen. Utah came in and dominated the game with a convincing 146-94 trouncing.
Clay Tucker led the Snowbears with 33 points on a variety of three point shots and alley oop slams while Tyrone Hayes added 23 off the bench in a game that was almost over after one period as Utah led 36-13. Tucker tied the Stars with 13 first quarter points while Curtis Millage added 7 points and 5 assists in the period. It didn't end there. Harold Arceneaux and Alex Austin got hot for Utah and the Snowbears had a 76-32 halftime lead. The Snowbears defended full court and created easy steals on 5 straight possessions and Adam Parada had 5 blocks in the quarter. Rudy Williams and Ramel Lloyd tried to shoot the Stars back into the game but failed as the tough Utah team made a point to show Lee that they were for real. Utah had a 105-54 lead after three periods and coasted home with the 52 point lead.
Alex Austin had a triple double with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists; Adam Parada had one too with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 blocks. Curtis Millage had 15 points, 12 assists and Harold Arceneaux had 21 points. Ramel Lloyd finished with 27 points for the Stars while Williams and Burr added 22 and 18 respectively.
Burrel Lee commented, "We got trounced. No doubt about it. But we'll get another chance - and we'll have two of our starters back next time. A Christmas present for Utah. An empty stocking for the Stars. We have some work to do."
Utah improved to 12-0 and will return to Salt Lake to take on Calgary and Las Vegas. LA fell to 5-5 and will host Fresno. For more information, call 801 533 BEAR or visit www.utahsnowbears.net or visit www.abalive.com.
