Aftershock Get Slammed, 80-128

February 15, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Los Angeles Aftershock News Release

After several games with the Orange County Buzz, the Aftershock were ready to hit the road to start a three game set versus the Bellingham Slam. The end result was not what the Aftershock was hoping for.

The Slam built up an early lead in the first quarter led by Caleb Gervin. The All-Star guard hit two quick three pointers and two break away lay-ups to give the Slam an 28-9 lead late in the first. However, Thomas Blunt, Matthew Houser, and new-comer Tyler Murphy came off the bench to finish the first quarter on a 11-4 run pulling the score to 32-20. The second quarter seemed to be a mirror image of the first, Caleb Gervin continued to give the Aftershock guards problems and Craig Roosendaal hit three consecutive three point baskets. With the Aftershock being down 42-63 at half, the team knew they had a lot of catching up to do.

The Aftershock only shot 33 percent in the 1st half and where 1-for-11 from downtown while the Slam shot 53 percent and hit 8 three pointers.

However, the drought continued for LA while the Slam continued to pour in buckets. Both the 3rd and 4th quarters were disappointments to hopes of walking out of Whatcom Pavilion with a win.

The final score was Aftershock 80, Slam 128. Caleb Gervin finished with 34 points, 10-for-13 from the field of which 3-of-5 were 3 pointers and was perfect from the line, 11-for-11. Matthew Houser finish with 12, Darwin Carter finished with 13, and Jamar Cramer and Corey Williams ended with 10 each respectively. The Aftershock were out-rebounded 54-34 and gave up 31 points off of turnovers. The Aftershock seek revenge on Thursday night at 7 pm at Whatcom Pavilion.

All Aftershock games can be heard on the web at the teams web site with pre-game shows beginning 30 minutes before game time with Head Coach Andre Smith.
