Aftershock to host first playoff game

March 9, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Los Angeles Aftershock News Release

Los Angeles, CA. After several months of the regular season, the LA Aftershock is ready for the playoffs. This year has been filled with highs and lows. With many losses by close margins, Coach Andre Smith and the Aftershock are looking to close that gap on Sunday, March 12th at 530pm PST when the Aftershock square up against the Orange County Buzz.

These two teams have matched up five times this season with the Buzz getting the upper hand with three wins. However, in the playoffs, it's a clean slate! The loser must go home and the winner advances to San Jose to take on the highly-ranked San Jose Skyrockets.

With the leadership of Will Burr and the inside-outside play of forwards Matt Houser, Thomas Blunt and Corey Williams, the Aftershock look to shut down the Buzz. "It's anybody's tournament. On any given night, any team can shine, but there are no games 2-7. We have to play every night from here on in like it will be our last, and I know for a fact that nobody on the Aftershock wants that," president Shawn Blattenberger stated. "Records do not mean a thing at this point."

The game will be held at Veterans Sports Complex at 22400 Moneta in Carson, CA. Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children - far and away the best sports and entertainment value in Southern California. All Aftershock games can be heard on the web at the team's website, www.laaftershock.com with pre-game shows beginnning 30 minutes before with head coach Andre Smith. You can call the Aftershock at 714 470 1122 or email info@laaftershock.com. Get out there Sunday and root the Aftershock on. Or visit www.abalive.com.
