Utah Snowbears 12-0 with 146-94 thumping of Los Angeles

December 24, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Utah Snowbears News Release

Burrel Lee of the LA Stars was quoted on December 22 that he felt the Stars would win the ABA title this year and that he "wasn't impressed by Utah because they hadn't played anyone with a winning record". If you ask Lee now, he may have a new opinion, as the Snowbears traveled to LA and took apart the Stars by 52 on their home court.

Clay Tucker led the Snowbears with 33 points on a variety of three point shots and alley oop slams, while Tyrone Hayes added 23 off the bench in a game that was over after one period as Utah led 36-13. Tucker tied the Stars with 13 first quarter points, while Curtis Millage added 7 points and 5 assists in the period.

The trouncing continued as Harold Arceneaux and Alex Austin got hot for Utah, with the Snowbears running out to a 76-32 halftime lead. The Snowbears defended full court and created easy steals on 5 straight possessions, and Adam Parada had 5 blocks in the quarter.

Rudy Williams and Ramel Lloyd tried to shoot the Stars back into the game, but failed as the angry Utah team made a point to show Lee that they were for real. Utah had a 105-54 lead after three periods, and coasted home with the 52 point win.

Alex Austin had a triple double with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists, while Adam Parada had a triple double of his own with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 blocks. Curtis Millage led the Utah offense with his 12 assists and 15 points, while Harold Arceneaux slammed and slashed his way to 21 points and 6 rebounds. Tony Farmer added 13 points to round out the 7 Snowbears in double figures. Lloyd had 27 points while Williams and Burr added 22 and 18 respectively.

Utah improved to 12-0 and will return to Salt Lake to take on Calgary and Vegas. LA fell to 5-5 and will host Fresno. For more information on the Snowbears, call (801) 533-BEAR, or visit www.utahsnowbears.net.
