PCL1 Fresno Grizzlies

Sneed's gem wasted as Vegas ends Grizzlies win streak with a 2-1 victory

April 19, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Despite the efforts of starter Cy Sneed, the Fresno Grizzlies (10-4) lost 2-1 to the Las Vegas 51s (5-9) Wednesday night from Cashman Field. Sneed (no-decision) twirled a no-hitter for six innings, walking four and striking out seven. He has not allowed a run in his past two starts (11 innings). The 51s mustered one hit, a homer in the seventh inning. With the defeat, the Grizzlies seven game win streak was snapped.

Tyler White gave Fresno a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth when he smacked a home run to left. It was his fifth homer of the season.

The first and only hit of the 51s night came in the bottom of the seventh from the bat of Bryce Brentz. He powered a two-run shot to left off of Grizzly reliever Reymin Guduan (loss). His first bomb of the year gave Las Vegas a 2-1 advantage. That was enough for closer Jacob Rhame, who picked up his first save.

Las Vegas starter Chris Flexen (no-decision) lasted four scoreless innings, giving up three hits, walking five and punching out three. Reliever Corey Taylor (1-0) picked up the win in two scoreless innings.

Fresno's Drew Ferguson singled in the top of the eighth, extending his team-high hit streak to 11 games.

The two teams are back at it Thursday night from Cashman Field for game three of the four-game set. Fresno RHP Rogelio Armenteros (0-0, 3.18) and Las Vegas RHP Corey Oswalt (1-1, 3.00) are the probable pitchers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PT.
