Beloit Sky Carp News Release

The Beloit Snappers have released their promotional calendar for the 2004 season. Twelve fireworks shows and three bobble head giveaways are the highlights of this year's promotions. Tony Gwynn, Jr., Rickie Weeks, and a retro Don Money wearing his 1982 Milwaukee Brewers uniform will be the featured bobble heads this season. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a bobble head on each of the three event dates. The dates for the bobble head giveaways are June 27 for Gwynn, Jr., July 18 for Weeks, and August 15 for Money.

The 12 fireworks shows will be held on May 14, May 22, May 29, June 4, June 26, July 2, July 3, July 17, July 31, August 7, August 14, and September 4. Last season the Snappers upgraded from six shows to 11 with tremendous success. The 11 fireworks dates were 11 of the top 15 attended dates at Pohlman Field in 2003, bringing in an average attendance of 2,613 fans.

"Fireworks have proven to be very successful over the last few seasons," said Dave Costello, Assistant General Manager and Promotions Director. "We feel very confident booking 12 more shows in 2004. The fans love them and rightfully so. They are terrific shows."

The Snappers will again host two kids days. May 13 at 11:00 a.m. will be "Learn with the Snappers Day," an educational twist on the Snappers annual field trip day for the schools. July 15 at noon will be "Camp Snappy Day," a yearly event for summer camp kids. Other popular nights making a return in 2004 include "Fright Night," "X-Mas in July," "‘80s Night," and "People's Choice Night." Last held in 2001, "People's Choice Night" gives fans the opportunity to create a promotion for the Snappers. Fans will be able to submit their ideas throughout the summer with the winner being announced in July. The winning entry will see his or her idea executed at the ballpark on Friday, August 6.

"The promotional contest was pretty successful when we did it a few years ago," said Costello. "It's always interesting to see what our fans come up with and it also gives them a chance to be a part of the whole creative experience at the ballpark."

The Snappers season opens on Thursday, April 8 against the Swing of the Quad Cities. To view a detailed list of the Snappers promotions, log on to the Snappers website at www.snappersbaseball.com or call 1-888-SNAP-2-IT to request a complete list.
