Beloit Sky Carp News Release
The Minnesota Twins and Beloit Snappers have extended their Player Development Contract (PDC) through 2012 on Tuesday.
"This is a great day in Snappers' history," said Beloit Professional Baseball Association, Inc. Chairman Dennis Conerton. "We couldn't be happier with the Twins, who have been outstanding to work with since day one, and provide our fans with a very exciting major league product to watch. The Twins, from top to bottom, are a first rate organization and we are proud to continue our affiliation with them."
The Snappers and Twins last extended their PDC on August 14, 2007, which runs through the 2010 season. Today's agreement extends the contract for an additional two years, through the 2012 season.
"We would like to thank the Minnesota Twins for extending their agreement with us," said General Manager Jeff Vohs. "The signing represents the confidence that both we and the Minnesota Twins have in each other. We look forward to keeping this relationship alive through the 2012 season and beyond."
In five seasons with the Minnesota Twins, the Snappers have made the Midwest League playoffs in three of the seasons, going all the way to Game 5 of the Championship series in 2007. Numerous top Twins players have come through Beloit including Matt Garza, Kevin Slowey, Jeff Manship, Jose Mijares, Brian Duensing, Chris Parmelee, Ben Revere and Aaron Hicks.
The Beloit Professional Baseball Association, Inc. has been a member of the Midwest League since 1982. During the first 23 seasons of existence Beloit was affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Twins signed with the Snappers prior to the 2005 season and became the second Major League team affiliated with the Snappers.
