Columbus Cottonmouths News Release

The Columbus Cottonmouths have made a couple roster moves in preparations for the 2009-10 SPHL playoffs, claiming forward Daryl Moore off waivers from Louisiana and signing rookie Tommy Upton to a three-game tryout. To make room for Moore, Tommy McMonagle has been placed on waivers. The Cottonmouths need one win over the final six games or one loss by Louisiana to clinch their sixth consecutive playoff appearance.

Moore comes to the Snakes from the Louisiana Ice Gators where he collected up 14 goals and 20 assists in 37 games this season. Last season, he split time between the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the CHL, where he picked up 29 points in 45 games, and the Twin City Cyclones, recording 15 points in 10 games. From 2006-08, he picked up 128 points in 108 games with the Cyclones in the SPHL. Moore was a teammate of Snakes defenseman Andrew Dwyer at Western Michigan University from 2002-2006.

Upton joins the Snakes after four seasons at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. The 6-foot-1 defenseman picked up 13 points in 87 collegiate games. He hails from Austin, Texas and joins the Snakes for his professional hockey debut.
