SMUD to Host Free Electric Vehicle Ride & Drive Event at Cal Expo Ahead of Republic FC Match
June 8, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Sacramento Republic FC News Release
On Saturday, June 24, SMUD is hosting a free Electric Ride and Drive event to introduce the community to the many benefits of electric vehicles (EVs). The event will feature test drive opportunities, meet and greets with EV owners to hear about their personal experiences, and several giveaways, including prizes from Republic FC.
During the event, participants will get to talk to current EV owners about their experiences, learn about EV charging, and find out about incentives and rebates that help make EVs an affordable option. Drivers can even get behind the wheel on a closed test track to experience the latest in electric vehicle technology, or you can ride along with one of the event staff. Admission is free and the event is open for all ages - a valid driver's license is required for test drives.
SMUD's 2030 Zero Carbon Plan, a comprehensive strategy to eliminate carbon emissions from the region's power supply, also promotes the adoption of electric solutions in buildings and transportation - two of the state's largest carbon-emitting sectors. SMUD serves as a trusted advisor and partner for customers transitioning to electric mobility, offering support programs, such as phone assistance and turnkey charging solutions. SMUD also focuses on leveraging new technology and innovation to optimize customer investments and enhance grid value.
The first 250 people to arrive will receive a ticket voucher for Republic FC's home match later that night, with one lucky guest winning a VIP four-pack for the game. A second winner will receive a Half Season Membership, which includes tickets for 9 home games, as well as discounts on team merchandise, gameday parking, and youth camps and clinics. The club's Cap City Crew will also be at the event to distribute team freebies and promo gear.
