Knoxville Smokies News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies (71-66, 34-34) won their regular-season finale against the Chattanooga Lookouts (61-75, 27-40) 11-4 Sunday afternoon at AT&T Field. Tennessee's 71 wins in the regular season were its most since 2015.
Tennessee came out of the gate fast with a four-run top of the first, highlighted by Cole Roederer's two-run double. After Chattanooga had pulled within two runs of the Smokies, Nelson Maldonado launched a two-run blast to extend their lead. Jake Washer also went deep in the win, a two-run shot that iced the game in the eighth inning.
Richard Gallardo made his Double-A debut in Sunday's finale, striking out six in four innings of work. Samuel Reyes (W, 5-1) worked two shutout frames to record the win, as he struck out four and allowed one hit.
The Smokies will host the first game of the 2022 Southern League North Divisional series Tuesday night at Smokies Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM ET. Games two and three (if necessary) of the series will take place at Rocket City on Sept. 22-23. Fans can catch the action at https://www.milb.com/tennessee/fans/audio-listen-live.
