Sevierville, Tenn.- Thursday night's series opener between the Smokies and Orlando Rays has been postponed due to rain and wet field conditions. The game will be made up as part of a double-header Friday night at Smokies Park beginning at 6:15 p.m.
The first place Smokies are coming off an 11-game road trip in first place in the Southern League's Eastern Division. Heading into Thursday night's league action the Smokies led the first half champion Carolina Mudcats by 2 ½ games with 33 remaining.
Friday night's double-header will be the opening of an eight game homestand for the first place Smokies. Tennessee will send Juan Pena (4-4, 3.63) and Nick Stocks (8-6, 4.65) to the mound pposite Jose Veras (5-8, 3.60) and Scott Autrey.
