Jackson, Tenn. - The red hot West Tenn Diamond Jaxx won their seventh straight Wednesday afternoon at Pringles Park, topping Tennessee 7-2 in front of 6,386 fans.
West Tenn plated three runs in the first against Luis Martinez (3-2). Richard Lewis, Micah Hoffpauir, and Mike Dzurilla each drove in a first inning run for the Jaxx, who led 7-0 after five innings.
Jemel Spearman led of the third with the second triple of the day for the Jaxx. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Hoffpauir. Mike Mallory doubled home a run in the fourth, and Dzurilla's two-run homer capped the West Tenn scoring in the fifth.
Tennessee didn't get a runner to second base until John Nelson's lead off double in the eighth. Nelson went to third on a ground out and scored on a passed ball. Nate Espy doubled in the ninth and scored on Skip Schumaker's second hit of the game.
West Tenn's Bobby Brownlie (4-2) allowed just one unearned run on two hits over eight innings for the win.
The final game of the series is Thursday at 7:35 ET, with Chris Narveson (0-4, 4.60) pitching against Renyel Pinto (3-2, 4.08).
Tennessee returns home Friday night to host Carolina in the first game of an eight game homestand. Brad Thompson (5-0, 0.00) will start for Tennessee Friday night.
