Smokies Get Revenge on Lookouts, Thanks to Andy Weber Solo Home Run

KODAK, Tenn. - Smokies take sole possession of first place in the Southern League North division with a 5-4 win over second place Chattanooga.

Chattanooga kept their hot bats from last night's extra-innings game going in the first two innings tonight as the Lookouts put the first two runs on the board. A fantastic throw by second baseman Scott McKeon disrupted the scoring for Chattanooga as he threw out Nick Quintana at home plate to end the inning.

Cole Roederer sparked life into the Smokies in the bottom of the fourth with a solo deep shot to right field to narrow the score to 3-1 in favor of the Lookouts.

The Lookouts logged another run in the top of the fifth, but the Smokies were lurking, waiting for their turn to strike in the bottom half of the inning. McKeon led off the inning with a walk, then after two quick outs, Owen Caissie was hit and took his base to give Tennessee two base runners. Haydn McGeary singled to center field, scoring McKeon from second. BJ Murray then doubled to left the next at-bat and brought in Caissie and McGeary to knot the game up at 4 a piece before the inning came to an end.

Andy Weber blasted his second home run of the year to give the Smokies the 5-4 lead and insurance in the bottom of the sixth.

Closer Riley Martin got the six-out save for Tennessee to get the win and secure solo first place, up 1.5 games on Chattanooga in the southern league north division.
