SEVIERVILLE, TN - The Rocket City Trash Pandas (44-42) defeated the Tennessee Smokies (37-48), 4-2, in a rain shortened contest at Smokies Stadium. Saturday night's game was called after five innings.

The Smokies opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Carlos Sepulveda walked, and scored when Trash Pandas' third baseman Luis Aviles Jr. committed an error on a hit-and-run.

Tennessee and Rocket City traded runs in the third inning. Michael Cruz tied the game at one in the top half of the inning with a solo home run but the Smokies responded with a two-out rally in the bottom half.

Christopher Morel worked a two-out walk and scored on Maldanado's RBI double to put the Smokies in front 2-1.

The Trash Pandas took their first lead of the game an inning later when two-out Mitch Nay and Ray-Patrick Didder singles set up a Cruz go-ahead, three-run home run.

Tennessee starter Caleb Killian (L, 0-2) allowed five hits and four runs while striking out seven in five innings in his Smokies Stadium debut. The Cubs acquired Killian on July 30 in the Kris Bryant trade.

Even though this is a complete game, tickets to tonight's game may be exchanged for a ticket to any other Smokies' home game during the 2021 regular season.

The Smokies and Trash Pandas conclude their six game series Sunday afternoon. First pitch between RHP Cam Sanders (3-6, 5.49) and RHP Janson Junk (0-1, 7.45) is scheduled for 2 PM. Fans can hear all Smokies games by going to https://www.milb.com/tennessee/fans/audio-listen-live.

The first 1,000 fans through the gate Sunday will receive a Vintage Looking Bobblehead.

The Smokies are off Monday, then begin a series with the Birmingham Barons at Smokies Stadium on Tuesday. Tickets for the entire Birmingham series are available and can be purchased online, over the phone, or by visiting the box office.
