Sevierville, Tenn.- The Tennessee Smokies, Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, have announced their radio network for the 2005 season will consist of WNOX Newstalk 990 AM and WSEV ESPN Radio 930 AM. This season will mark Newstalk 99's fourth season as the flagship station for the Smokies, but the first on 990 AM. ESPN Radio 930 AM will carry live action of every Smokies weekday games that begin before 6:00 p.m.

"WNOX is a leader in the Knoxville market and has been a great partner of ours for a number of years", Smokies General Manager Brian Cox said. "By switching to the AM signal our broadcasts will be booming into 5 states after sundown, allowing us to reach more fans than ever before."

"We are excited to enter our fourth year as the flagship station of the Smokies Radio Network as the team embarks on its new affiliation with the Arizona Diamondbacks", said Citadel Communications Vice President and GM Ed Brantley. "We are equally pleased with the move of the Smokies broadcasts to our AM 990 signal, which will enable the broadcasts to be heard throughout the southeast at night this summer. WNOX takes pride in its sports coverage and we believe that Smokies baseball is a great match for us."

Award winning broadcasters Tom Hart and Chip Kain will anchor Smokies coverage of the 140 game Southern League season.

Hart, the 2002 Southern League Broadcaster of the Year, will return for his fourth season calling Smokies baseball. He will be joined in the booth for the second season by Chip Kain, named by CalloftheGame.com as the 2004 "Up and Comer of the Year". Kain, who serves as the scoreboard host for the Vol Network's coverage of Lady Vols basketball and postgame co-host on the Vol Network for football, will handle play-by-play for the middle innings and when Hart's television duties take him away from the booth.

The season kicks off when 2005 Southern League Champions Mobile and Tennessee square off April 7 at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile. The Smokies and the BayBears were scheduled to play in last year's championship series, which was cancelled due to Hurricane Ivan.
