
Smith, Simard Can-Am League Players of Week

DURHAM, NC - The Can-Am League announced today that Worcester Tornadoes OF Stantrel Smith and Quebec Capitales RHP Michel Simard have been named the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League.
In six games, Smith batted .417 with one home run and eight RBIs. He scored four runs, collected 10 hits, including eight extra base hits, and had a slugging percentage of .917. In the 7-2 win over the Pittsfield Colonials Tuesday, the Ellenwood, GA resident went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Simard collected wins over Brockton and Worcester. He gave up four earned runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts in 12 1/3 innings pitched. Opponents hit only .174 against him. On the season, the Charlesbourg, QC resident is 3-2 with a 6.48 ERA.
