Des Moines, IA - Iowa Cubs infielder Marquez Smith has been named Topps Player of the Month for August, the league office announced today.
During the month, Smith played in 27 games and hit .363 (37-for-102). He drove in 28 runs, had seven doubles, 12 home runs and one stolen base. His .363 average was 10th-best in the Pacific Coast League.
