MILWAUKEE, WI -- Chris Kunitz and Alexei Smirnov scored goals as the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks beat the Milwaukee Admirals, 2-1, Thursday at the Bradley Center.
Smirnov, a first-round pick by Anaheim in 2000, scored on a breakaway 9:27 into the third period to break a 1-1 tie. Zenon Konopka assisted on Smirnov's goal to extend his point streak to an AHL career-high four games.
Frederic Cassivi, making his fourth consecutive start, stopped 21 shots in the win for the Ducks, who have won two straight games and four of their last six.
Former Duck Cam Severson had the lone goal 25 seconds into the game for Milwaukee, which has lost four of its last six.
Seamus Kotyk stopped 26 shots in the loss for the Admirals, who suffered just their second regulation loss this season when scoring the game-opening goal (11-2-2-1).
The Ducks begin a two-game series in Grand Rapids Sunday.
