Sliders' Season Finale Weekend Highlighted By Car Giveaway

The Springfield Sliders, still hoping to qualify for the post-season, return home this Thursday for a four-game homestand which will mark the end of the 2012 regular season. The Sliders will take on the first place Terre Haute Rex on Thursday and Friday. The Quincy Gems will follow the Rex into town for a weekend series to close out the home season for the Sliders.
The homestand will feature some "pennant race" baseball and a full slate of fun promotions highlighted by FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT on Saturday when the Sliders are GUARANTEEING that one lucky fan will win a brand new 2012 Hyundai Accent!
The Sliders' chance to qualify for a playoff spot may well hinge on the Terre Haute series. Springfield trails Terre Haute by 4.5 games with 8 games remaining, four of which are between the two clubs. The two teams will play the remainder (one out) of a suspended game as well as the regularly scheduled game in Terre Haute tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Sliders' Manager Pete Romero successfully protested the last game between the two clubs in Terre Haute. With two men on base and two out in the ninth inning, Rex Manager Brian Dorsett made an illegal visit to the mound. Romero immediately protested the game and the protest was upheld by Prospect League Commissioner Dave Chase. The game will be resumed at the point of the infraction (two on, two out in the top of the 9th), followed by the regularly scheduled game. This means there will be four "decisions" between the division leading Rex and the Sliders in the next three days.
Thursday will feature a pint-glass giveaway to the first 500 fans 21 and over as well as a car show, $1 hot dogs and $1 drink specials. Friday will feature another spectacular post-game fireworks display. Saturday's car giveaway will be followed by our final Senior Citizen Sunday. All seniors pay just $5 and on Sunday that also gets them a hot dog and a soft drink!
The Sliders have conducted a season-long campaign which will ultimately lead to one fan driving away in a brand new 2012 Hyundai.
"Golden Tickets", consisting of a ticket to Saturday's game and one free chance to qualify for the car giveaway contest, were emailed to lucky fans this week. A skill-based contest will be conducted throughout the game with qualifiers getting a chance to participate in the final round on the field for the car. Again, one fan is GUARANTEED to win the car.
