Sliders Announce 2013 Schedule

The Prospect League and the Springfield Sliders released their 2013 schedule today. The Sliders will again play a 60-game regular season with 30 home games and 30 away games.
The Sliders will open the 2013 season against the Hannibal Cavemen at home on Tuesday, May 28th, the day after Memorial Day. The Sliders will also host the Quincy Gems on the final day of the regular season which is Monday, August 5th.
Due to the odd number of teams in the league for 2013 there will again be no crossover games between the East Division - made up of Butler, PA, Chillicothe, OH, Lorain County, OH, Richmond, IN, Slippery Rock, PA, and West Virginia - and the West Division - made up of Springfield, Danville, IL, Hannibal, MO, Quincy, IL and Terre Haute, IN. The league hopes to get back to an even number of teams and a crossover schedule in 2014.
New to the Prospect League schedule this year is the absence of a split season. The entire 60 game schedule will be played as one with the top two teams from each division facing off in a best of three series with the victors from each divisional series facing off for the Prospect League championship in another best of three series.
In addition to the absence of a split season the Sliders home schedule will feature two split doubleheaders. Springfield will play a day/night Saturday doubleheader against Danville on June 8th and a day/night Sunday doubleheader against Terre Haute on July 7th.
Game times for Monday through Saturday are 6:35pm and 5:05pm on Sundays. All home games will be played at Robin Roberts Stadium. The entire schedule can be viewed at www.springfieldsliders.com.
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League with teams in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Their 60 game schedule begins in late May and runs into August. All Sliders home games are played at Robin Roberts Stadium located at 1415 N Grand Ave E in Springfield, IL.
