Slaying a Giant!

Thursday the Oaks traveled to San Jose to take on the San Jose Giants for a three game set before taking off four days for the All-Star break Visalia looked to rebound after being swept by the Bakersfield Blaze and have lost eight of their last nine. The Giants who already clinched a playoff spot by winning the California League's North Division in the first half just swept the Lancaster Jethawks. Game one features a battle of All-Stars as the Oaks sent out All-Star right-hander Jean Machi vs. All-Star righty Jessie Floyd.

The Oaks scored first putting up four runs in the top of the first on a John Paul Davis double and Joey Gomes' single drove in another run to give the Oaks a 2-0 lead. Two batters later Colt Simmons hit a single that drove in two more and Visalia quickly lead 4-0 before San Jose could even bat. The Oaks added two more in the top of the third and one in the fifth, as Colt Simmons drove in his fourth run he would have 5 RBI on the evening, and the Oaks lead 6-0.

The Giants scored one making it 6-1 but he Oaks added another run in the top of the fourth to make it 7-1. San Jose would score three more in the third highlighted by Travis Ishikawa's eleventh homerun of the year to make it 7-4. The next two innings were scoreless however both All-Star pitchers did not even make it to the fifth. However the Oaks opened it up again scoring two in the seventh and one more in the eighth to make 10-4, which would be your final.

The Oaks play game two of this three game series as they take on the San Jose Giants in game two of this three game set. Oaks send out their southpaw Mike Prochaska vs. lefty Jesus Reina for the San Jose Giants.
