Joliet, IL - The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy are excited to announce Slammers' pitcher Liam O'Sullivan signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday, July 30. O'Sullivan is the second Slammers player to be signed to an MLB organization this week.

"The Diamondbacks have been keeping an eye on him," said Joliet Slammers Field Manager Jeff Isom. "They've seen him in the past, and during his time here in Joliet, he's proven to be one of the top pitchers in the League. We are excited for this opportunity for him."

This season is O'Sullivan's first with the Joliet Slammers. He played collegiately at St. Leo University in Florida before joining the Frontier Greys late in the 2015 season.

Pitching 10 games this season, and starting eight, O'Sullivan has a 5-0 record. Four of his wins come within the last five games, including last night's 9-8 win against the River City Rascals.

O'Sullivan ranks second in the League in wins, behind Trevor Foss of the Washington Wild Things and Josh Kimborowicz of the Southern Illinois Miners, each tied with six wins.

In just over 51 innings pitched this season, he has struck out 41. His ERA sits at 3.20.

The Joliet Slammers remain in first place in the East Division after sliding past Windy City this past weekend. They  are now 24-17 this season and have widened the gap to 2 games ahead of the second place ThunderBolts. The Slammers have won seven of their last ten games.

The Slammers are back at Silver Cross Field on Friday, July 1 for a matchup against the ThunderBolts. Friday's 7:05 game is baseball movie night. Fans can wear the jerseys of their favorite baseball team for a free drink voucher. Baseball movie clips will be played on the video board throughout the night, and the Slammers will also raffle off a Field of Dreams bat. Post-game fireworks are also on the agenda.

Saturday, July 2 will feature a second fireworks show of the weekend for the Slammers Independence Day celebration, and Sunday, the Slammers host Military Appreciation Day at 1:05pm. The game will feature a U.S. Army future soldier swear-in ceremony and fans in attendance will receive a U.S. mini flag. Tickets are free for veterans and military members on Sunday.
