Joliet Slammers News Release
(Joliet, IL) - The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy announced Thursday the signing of shortstop Michael Wing.
"This is a huge sign for the Slammers," manager Mike Breyman said. "Michael has had a great career since he was drafted out of high school in 2007. A good shortstop is very hard to find in minor league baseball, and we could not be happier that we found Michael to play this position for us."
Wing, 24, brings six seasons of affiliated baseball experience to the Slammers.
He was selected in the 26th round of the 2007 draft out of Upland High School by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Wing made it as high as Double-A and has a career .283 batting average in affiliated baseball. He is expected to start at shortstop for the Slammers in 2013, but can play all over the infield.
Season tickets, loaded ticket packages and group outings for the 2013 season are available now by calling 815-722-2287. The Slammers Box Office is open in the off-season from 9-5, Monday-Friday. A complete 2013 schedule can be downloaded here .
