Bellingham Slam News Release

Bellingham, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam, ranked 12th in the first American Basketball Association power rankings released by the league last week, embark on their first extended road trip of the season Sunday. The trip will include a game against the King County Royals in Seattle on Sunday, a game in Mexico and two games in southern California.

Sunday's game against King County will be a re-match of the two teams' season-opening game on Nov. 12 in Seattle. Bellingham prevailed in that game, 108-96, thanks to a 36-point scoring performance from forward Mike Parker. King County is led in scoring by former Washington State Cougar guard Randy Green, averaging 32.5 points per game.

Following Sunday's game, the Slam travel to Tijuana, Mexico to face a Dragons team which they enjoyed much success against during the 2005-06 season. The Slam swept the season series with Tijuana last season, 4-0, including a memorable game on Feb. 3 when NBA legend Dennis Rodman suited up and played against the Slam in Bellingham. Rodman is not currently listed on the roster this season for Tijuana.

The Slam will wrap up the road trip with two games on Dec. 9 and 10 in southern California against the Carson Buzz, a team the Slam never faced last season, and the San Diego Wildcats, an expansion team this season in the ABA.

Bellingham is being led in scoring by Parker, who is averaging 30.2 points per game and is one of five Slam players averaging double figures in scoring. Guard Jacob Stevenson is second best on the squad, adding 22.8 points per game. Center Brian Dennis has been controlling the paint, pulling down an average of 8.8 rebounds per game and is also leading the team in field goal shooting at 58.3 percent.

Following the road trip, the Slam will return home to take on the Fresno Heatwave in a pair of games Dec. 12 and 13 at Whatcom Pavilion. Both games are scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m.
