Skyrockets Sign Marshall Phillips

Minot, ND - November 29, 2007 - The Minot Skyrockets are pleased to announce the addition of a veteran forward to the team. The Skyrockets signed Marshall Phillips from Appalachian State ('99). Phillips is a 6'5" - 200 lb. forward who most recently played in Belgium.

Phillips began his career at Appalachian State where he led his team 15.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his senior year. He was drafted by Fort Wayne in the 5th round of the 1999 CBA Rookie Draft. After a stint playing in Mexico, he signed with the Fort Wayne Fury in 2000-01 and averaged 15.4 points and 5.3 rebounds. Phillips also played in the 2000 CBA All-Rookie Game.

He had another great season in 2001-02 with the Roanoke Dazzle of the NBDL. Phillips averaged 13.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He also had 1.3 steals per game and was named to the 2002 NBDL All-Defensive Team.

Phillips then headed overseas to Venezuela and Mexico where he was selected for both All-Star Games. In 2002-03, he joined Coach Daleo and the Rockford Lightning (CBA) and averaged 18.7 points and 6.0 rebounds. Phillips returned to the Lightning for the 2004-05 season. He had another stellar year with 19.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He was also averaged 3.1 assists and 2.2 steals and was selected for the 2005 CBA All-Stars Game and the CBA All-Defensive Team.

Phillips has spent the last few seasons gaining valuable experience in overseas leagues including Italy and Germany. He is excited to return to the CBA with an improved game and will add to the Skyrockets already strong defensive team.

The Skyrockets also added a new rookie to the roster. Kellen Lee is a 7'1 center from Los Angeles CC. Lee was a 2007 NBA Draft Candidate and had workouts with the New York Knicks, Toronto Raptors, and Denver Nuggets. He was drafted by the Atlanta Krunk in the 6th round of the 2007 CBA Rookie Draft.
