Minot Skyrockets News Release
Minot, ND - October 16, 2007 - The Minot Skyrockets are pleased to announce two new additions to the 2007-08 roster. The Skyrockets have signed Darius Mattear and Lemarr Farr, pending league approval.
Mattear (6'6"/225 lb.) is a forward from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He finished his college career in 2004 and spent time in the ABA and WBA. In August 2006, he played in the Mexican LNBP. In November 2006, Mattear joined the Yakama Sun Kings of the CBA. In just 7 games, he averaged 7.4 rebounds before receiving an overseas contract in Syria. This summer, he spent time in the USBL with the Albany Patroons and the Oklahoma Storm.
"Darius had some impressive rebounding number during his stint with Yakama last year. He needs a full season in the CBA to put up some numbers and jump start his career," said Head Coach Chris Daleo
Farr (6'4"/205 lb.) is a guard from Lambuth University. In 2005-06, Farr averaged 14.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists at Lumbuth. He was selected 1st Team All-Conference for his efforts.
"Lemarr Farr was recommended to me by former CBA coach Gerald Oliver. He is hard working, and we expect both him and Darius to come in and make our veteran's camp very competitive," said Daleo.
The Skyrockets will open their second season on the road November 16th against the Butte Daredevils. For more information on the upcoming season, please visit the Skyrockets online at www.minotskyrockets.com.
