Skyrockets announce Kermit Young as new head coach

November 2, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release


San Jose, CA. The new Head Coach joining the ABA San Jose Skyrockets professional basketball team this season has been announced as Kermit Young. Coach Young will be leading the Skyrockets to victory as they launch into their first game of the season at the San Jose Civic Auditorium on November 18th.

"I am very pleased to be a member of the San Jose Skyrockets organization," stated Coach Young. "We have put together a good group of players in a very short period of time and we believe we will be a very exciting and competitive team."

Coach Young knows basketball. He has achieved various outstanding accolades throughout his basketball playing days, including Converse All-American, inductee into the Montana State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001, and honorable mention Academic All-American. After 36 years of coaching basketball, in addition to working as a high school counselor and administrator, Young recently retired from public education in California. Now Coach Young is working with the San Jose Skyrockets who welcome him to their team.

Kazumi Hasegawa, the CEO and President of the team commented, "We are thrilled that Coach Young has joined our organization and with his thorough knowledge and experience of basketball, I have no doubt that our first season will be a success."
