Sussex Skyhawks News Release

AUGUSTA, N.J. - The Ottawa Rapdiz used a 9-5 victory at Skylands Park on Thursday night to stop the Sussex Skyhawks' winning streak at seven.

Ottawa struck early and often and held a commanding 8-0 lead by the fourth inning. That was enough for starter Tanner Watson, who walked one and struck out six over seven innings to pick up the win. Kyle Ruwe took the loss for the Skyhawks.

Jake Daubert drove in four runs and Jabe Bergeron drove in three to lead the Rapidz offensively. Ottawa cashed in on three doubles in the top of the second to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Daubert drove in two more runs with a double in the top of the third, and Bergeron smacked a three run home run in the fourth to give the Rapidz an 8-0 lead.

Mario Delgado, Chris Brown, Alex Frazier and Yohanny Valera all reached base to start the bottom of the fifth for Sussex. All four would eventually come around to score to cut into the Ottawa lead, 8-4. Sussex pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth to make it an 8-5 game.

Ottawa returns to action on Friday at Quebec at 7:05 p.m. Sussex plays at Nashua on Friday, also in a 7:05 p.m. contest. The Skyhawks return to Skylands Park on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for the first of a three game series against Quebec.
