
Skyhawks falter in loss

AUGUSTA, N.J. - *Quebec's Patrick Scalabrini went two for five with three RBI and Eddie Lantigua drove in four runs to lead the Capitales to a 10-5 win over the Sussex Skyhawks before 3,516 on Friday night at Skylands Park.
Quebec jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first, highlighted by a two-run single by Scalabrini.
Quebec added another run in the top of the fifth when Scalabrini doubled, driving home Lantigua, who was on base after being hit by a pitch for the second time in the game. Greg Stevens then looped a single into left driving in Scalabrini to give the Capitales a 5-0 advantage.
Sussex got on the board in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run home run by third baseman Jay Yaconetti. Yaconetti's third round-tripper of the year made it a 5-2 game in favor of Quebec.
After Sussex clawed back with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-4, Lantigua put the game out of reach in the top of the eighth with a three run home run to make it 10-4 Quebec.

Orlando Trias gave up four runs on five hits, while walking three and striking out six in six innings to pick up the win for Quebec. Erick Nadon picked up the save after pitching three innings of relief. Sussex starter Michael Rogers took the loss after giving up five runs (four earned) on five hits in five innings.
Quebec and Sussex return to action at Skylands Park on Saturday at 5 p.m. for the final game of the four-game set. Saturday is NASCAR Night at Skylands Park, featuring Tony Stewart's No. 20 Show Car. There will also be a Culligan post-game catch on the field.
