(NASHUA, N.H. - July 11, 2008) Nashua Pride officials have announced the signing of catcher Mike Torres, cousin of current Pride player Chris Torres.

Torres, 5-foot 11-inch, 170 pounds, rejoins the Nashua Pride after playing with the team in 2005 when he batted .286 with nine home runs and 56 RBI as a second baseman and catcher. Last year for North Shore, Torres hit for a .326 average (6th in the Can-AM), with 114 hits (3rd) and 63 RBI (5th) for the season.

Torres, who was signed minutes before game two of Thursday nights double-header with Worcester, made an immediate impact in the Pride lineup, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and scoring two runs including the eventual game winner. The Brooklyn, NY native is playing in his seventh professional season, having played with Brockton and North Shore, along with Nashua in that time. Torres has been deployed in a utility role throughout his career, and is capable of playing all nine positions on the field.

The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, entering its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions will be participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
