Indiana Mad Ants News Release
FORT WAYNE, IN (February 6, 2013)-The Sioux Falls Skyforce beat the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 106-99 Wednesday evening with a very balanced attack that saw seven different players scoring in double figures. Demetris Nichols led the way for the Skyforce with 22 points.
The Skyforce took control of the game early, and they had control throughout the contest. Sioux Falls capitalized on the sloppy play of the Mad Ants (12 first half turnovers) and took an 11-point lead into halftime when Gabe Pruitt stole a pass from Ron Howard and hit a buzzer beater from 34 feet.
The Skyforce continued to be the aggressor through the game, and pushed their lead to as many as 20 in the third quarter when Donald Sloan hit an 18 foot jumper to push the score to 82-62. The Ants made a final push in the fourth quarter when they chipped away and cut the Sioux Falls lead to 10. The Ants were able to get a defensive stop and were on their way to try to cut the lead into single digits, but they committed three straight turnovers (25 turnovers for the game), and the Skyforce made the home team pay by going on a 10-0 run and never looked back.
Besides Nichols 22 points, Donald Sloan scored 19 points and dished out 10 assists, and Gabe Pruitt chipped in 14 points.
The Mad Ants were led by Tony Mitchell's 20 points. Ron Howard and Anthony Harris scored 20 points and 13 points respectively.
