Sky Sox Win Season Finale Over RiverCats, 7-3

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox wrapped up their 2010 season with a 7-3 victory over the Sacramento RiverCats on Monday afternoon at Security Service Field in front of 3,866 fans. The win gives the Sox a final record of 64-79 which puts them in third place in the Pacific Northern Division.

Chaz Roe (9-13) picked up the win after turning in a solid outing. He tossed six innings and gave up just three runs on eight hits while walking none and striking out seven. New addition Jonnathan Aristil tossed two perfect innings after being called up from Double-A Tulsa earlier in the day and Andrew Johnston finished the game off with a perfect ninth.

The Sox scored all their runs in the fourth and fifth innings with five runs coming in the fourth. In the inning, Brad Eldred delivered an RBI double, Travis Metcalf plated one on a single, Mike Paulk drove in two more with a single of his own and Warren Schaeffer finished things off with a run-scoring double. In the fifth, Matt Miller had an RBI double, the 75th of his Sox career, and Metcalf delivered another RBI single to put the Sox up 7-3.

Following the game, Sox outfielder Jay Payton and reliever Edgmer Escalona received call-ups to the Rockies.

NOTES: Matt Miller finished the day 3-for-4 and Jay Payton went 0-for-4 so that Miller finished with the team's highest batting average at .325 to Payton's .323. Miller scored two runs and drove in another in the game to give him 201 runs scored and 202 RBI for his Sox career. With those two new totals, Miller became just the fifth Sky Sox player to score 200+ runs and drive in 200+ RBI in his career joining Alan Cockrell, Luis Medina, Angel Echevarria and Jay Gainer. The Sky Sox ended the season with an all-time single-season record attendance of 328,003 breaking the previous record of 303,048 set in 2008
