Lone Star Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS - Brahmas goaltender Jan Skorpik has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Long Island University, the player announced Thursday.
"I am extremely excited and honored to announce my commitment to play D1 college hockey for Long Island University," said Skorpik, regarding his commitment. "I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, billets and friends who have helped me along the way."
In eight games played for Lone Star, Skorpik holds a 5-1-2 record with a 2.55 goals against average and a 0.870 save percentage. The skater's statistics have landed him in the top-12 goalies overall in the North American Hockey League. Before coming to North Richland Hills, Skorpik played for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL, playing in 30 games and tallying a 16-7-3 record. Before coming to the States, the goalie appeared in several games for the Czech Republic national youth team.
"We are extremely excited and proud of Jan for committing to Long Island University," said associate head coach of the Brahmas, Ryan Anderson. "In the short time Jan has been with our program, he has given us the chance to win every night he has been in the net. Jan's personality and character have been a huge asset to our locker room. We look forward to having a strong finish to our season this year and Jan will be a major piece of our success."
Skorpik is the first in Brahmas history to commit to Long Island University. The program made the jump to Division I hockey last season.
Jan Skorpik is the first NCAA commitment from the Brahmas current roster. In the 2020-21 season, the Lone Star Brahmas was one of the top teams in the NAHL for college advancement with 20 commitments.
