
Amarillo Completes First Third of Season, Holds Top Spot in Division

(AMARILLO, Texas) The Wranglers swept the Rhinos in El Paso over the weekend, reaching the 1/3 mark of their inaugural season.
The Wranglers now have a 16-and-5 record and hold the best winning percentage in the entire NAHL. Amarillo shut out the Rhinos Friday night with a 2-to-0 win and finished the sweep with a 3-to-2 win Saturday night.
Friday night, the Wranglers would get goals from Anthony Vidrick and Dominic Schimizzi. Goaltender Max Gutjahr earned a 29-save shutout for his second shutout of the year. Saturday night, the Wranglers got two goals from Kristaps Skrastins and the game-winning goal in overtime from Jakob Peterson. Gutjahr made 42 saves Saturday night for his league-leading 14th win.
For his two wins and 71 save weekend, Max Gutjahr was named the South division's second star of the week. Skrastins' two goals now give him 28 points (16G,12A) which is the seventh most points by a player in the league.
The Wranglers will be back on the road this week to take on the Shreveport Mudbugs. Amarillo is 4-and-0 against the defending Robertson Cup champions.
