
Skeeters Salvage Series Finale In Rout Of Bluefish

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS - The Sugar Land Skeeters managed to salvage the finale of a four-game set in a 10-1 victory over the Bridgeport Bluefish. The Skeeters moved to 6-5 in the second half pushing them to 41-40 on the season. With tonight's win, the Skeeters are now a half game up on York Revolution for 1st place in the Freedom division.
Roy Merritt earned his 3rd win after another solid performance on the hill, going five innings and giving up no runs on two hits with four strikeouts and two walks. DJ Mitchell struggled in his six innings of work, giving up five runs on ten hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Mitchell was saddled with his 3rd loss of the season.
Ricky Hague led the charge in the 1st with a double that would score Jeff Dominguez to put the Skeeters up 1-0. Patrick Palmeiro broke out of his recent slump and extended Sugar Land's lead to 5-0 with a grand-slam in the 4th. Palmeiro followed that up with a solo shot in the 6th that would make it 6-0. Travis Scott joined the scoring outburst with an RBI single in the 7th that would score Jeff Dominguez to push the lead to 7-0.
Luiz Hernandez put the Bluefish on the board with a single in the bottom half of the 7th that would score Jose Gil to make it 7-1. A two-run double from Jeff Dominguez and an RBI single from Delwyn Young in the 8th would cap the scoring at 10-1.
