
Skeeters Announce 2017 Spring Training Game Schedule

SUGAR LAND, TX-The Sugar Land Skeeters will begin spring training on Monday, April 10 at Constellation Field. The 2016 Atlantic League Champions will play three Spring Training games in preparation for the upcoming 2017 season. The club will host San Jacinto College in the first spring training game on April 14 and will face Alvin Community College on April 15 and finish their spring schedule on Monday, April 17 against Wharton Community College. All three games will be played at Constellation Field.
Season ticket holders will be allowed free admission to all three games and $5 general admission tickets will be available for purchase to fans for the Friday and Monday games online at SugarLandSkeeters.com. Saturday will be the annual Skeeters Fan Fest and admission to the game will be free of charge (more details to be announced). Dates and times for the three games:

The Skeeters open their 2017 season at Constellation Field on Thursday, April 20 against the Bridgeport Bluefish. The Skeeters will celebrate their 2016 championship season from April 20-26 with special promotions and events during the seven-game homestand versus the Bluefish. The 2017 schedule will once again feature fan favorite promotions including Friday Fireworks, Saturday post-game concerts, drink and food specials and promotional giveaways.
Gary Gaetti begins his sixth season as the Skeeters skipper and is the only manager in franchise history. In his five years as manager, he has compiled a 381-318 (.545) regular season record and was named Manager of the Year in 2013 when the Skeeters had a league record 95 wins. Gaetti and the Skeeters captured their first Atlantic League Championship title in 2016, sweeping the York Revolution in the Freedom Division Series and then taking three straight over the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League Championship Series. The Skeeters became the first team to go 6-0 in the playoffs and ended the 2016 campaign with 10 straight wins. The club has reached the league playoffs in three of five seasons, including two Championship Series appearances (2014, 2016). The Skeeters have 12 returning players from their 2016 Championship roster including Jeremy Barfield, who was named the Atlantic League and team MVP and set the Skeeters single season home run record (27). Joining Barfield on the 2017 roster is Travis Scott and Andrew Johnston, both named to the 2016 Atlantic League All Star team. The Skeeters have five former big leaguers on the roster, which include RHP Kyle Drabek, RHP Felipe Paulino, INF Chris Nelson, INF Lance Zawadzki and INF/OF Josh Prince. This season there will be a $5 charge for parking for all home games at Constellation Field.
