Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
SUGAR LAND, TX - The Sugar Land Skeeters announced today their game times and fireworks schedule for the 2013 season, presented by ABC Home & Commercial Services. Opening Weekend at Constellation Field will feature the first postgame fireworks show of the season on Thursday, April 18, when the team takes on 2012 Atlantic League Champion Long Island Ducks for a four-game series (April 18-21).
The initial 2013 fireworks schedule features 11 spectacular Saturday games as well as a special Sunday night fireworks show on June 30, as the team lights up the sky for an early Independence Day celebration. The club has also scheduled a Friday night fireworks show on July 19, during the team's first homestand following the Atlantic League All-Star Break.
The Skeeters have also announced the game times for 2013. All Sunday games during the months when school is in session (April, May and September) will begin at 1:35 p.m. During the months of June, July and August, Sunday games will start at 6:05 p.m., while all Monday-Friday games will continue to start at 7:05 p.m. In an effort to better accommodate families and make sure fans of all ages can view the fireworks shows, Saturday games will now begin at 6:05 p.m.
Weekly Promotions
For 2013, the team plans to bring back several weekly promotions which proved to be a huge hit among Skeeters fans last season. Following every Friday home game, Kids Run the Bases will return for all little Skeeter enthusiasts. Fans can then kick off their weekend with Saturday night fireworks and head back to Constellation Field for pregame autographs and Catch on the Field every Sunday.
Additional weekday promotions will be announced at a later date and be made available on the Skeeters official website.
Promotional Nights Sneak Peek
The Skeeters are working hard this season to create the most interactive game nights around and continue the momentum from 2012! Over the course of 70 home games, the club will host several unique and exciting theme nights that are guaranteed to entertain fans, as well as support great community causes. Below is a sneak peek at just a few of the Skeeters' plans for 2013, with a full schedule promising more entertainment and fun coming in late February.
The club plans to host numerous theme nights dedicated toward supporting community efforts such as cancer and autism awareness in 2013. On April 21, fans can help Hope For Three during Strike Out Autism Night with the first jersey auction of the season. Skeeters fans will also have a chance to participate in Strike Out Cancer Night on May 4 with a second jersey auction, benefitting the M.D. Anderson Foundation.
The Skeeters will also continue their community outreach initiatives with a number of theme nights devoted to children and helping local schools. The club will hold two Baseball In Education days (April 30-May 1) during back-to-back day games, as well as host three Reading Redemption Nights throughout the season for any schools participating in the Skeeters Reading Program, presented by Minute Maid.
In June, fans can treat Dad to a weekend at Constellation Field as the club hosts a three-game set against the Camden Riversharks over Father's Day Weekend (June 14-16). Kids also won't want to miss the chance to join Swatson and Moe at the ballpark for the popular mascots' birthday celebration on July 14. Members of the Kroger Buzz Brigade Kids Club will receive a special invitation to the Peanut Butter and Jelly Banquet that day in honor of the furry duo's special moment.
For the second year in a row, girl scouts can spend an evening under the stars at Constellation Field for the Girl Scouts Sleepover on May 31. Later in the season, boy scouts are invited to bring their tents and camp out for the Boy Scouts Sleepover on August 23. Both events sold out quickly last season, so Skeeter fans and scouts are encouraged to secure their tickets early.
Season 2 of Skeeters Baseball is right around the corner! Season tickets and eight-game ticket plans for 2013 are on sale now.
