LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - After rallying to take the lead in the sixth, the JetHawks staved off several late threats in a 9-8 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Thursday night at The Diamond.

Brett Phillips collected four hits and drove in two runs, finishing a home run shy of the cycle as the JetHawks (33-27) fought back from a four-run deficit.

Trailing 6-4, Lancaster took the lead in sixth inning against Storm (26-34) pitchers Ronald Herrera and Kyle Bartsch (1-2).

Chase McDonald led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a Mott Hyde single. After an unsuccessful sacrifice bunt attempt by Brian Holberton saw McDonald erased at third, Phillips hit a RBI-double. Derek Fisher followed with a walk, and J.D. Davis gave the JetHawks a 7-6 lead with a two-run single. Jack Mayfield added a two-RBI triple to cap the five-run rally.

Lake Elsinore came within one run in the bottom half against reliever Frederick Tiburcio (2-0). Ryan Miller led off with a single and scored on a Nick Schulz double. Schulz advanced to third on an error and scored on a groundout by Jose Rondon as Tyler Brunnemann entered from the bullpen. But after a walk, Brunnemann recovered for an inning-ending strikeout. The right-hander also stranded two runners in scoring position in a scoreless seventh.

The Storm stranded a total of 16 runners on base in the game and went 3-for-16 with men in scoring position.

Phillips led off the game with a triple and scored on a Fisher single. Davis moved Fisher to third on a hit-and-run, and the latter scored on a double-play ground ball to give Lancaster an early 2-0 lead.

But Lake Elsinore rallied for five runs in the third inning against JetHawks starter Troy Scribner. With one out, Fernando Perez singled and Marcus Davis doubled. Ryan Miller gave the Storm a lead with a two-run single, and three more singles in a row plus a Donavan Tate sacrifice fly extended Lake Elsinore's lead to four runs.

Scribner allowed six runs on a season-high eleven hits, walking two and striking out two.

Reymin Guduan allowed a one-out infield single in the ninth, but prevented the Storm from scoring to give Lancaster the series-opening victory.

The series continues on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. Kevin Comer (0-0, 2.25) will start for the JetHawks, and Rafael De Paula (3-4, 4.67) will pitch for the Storm.
