LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - One night after scoring nine runs, the JetHawks collected just five hits and were shut out by the Lake Elsinore Storm, 3-0, on Friday night at The Diamond.

Rafael De Paula (4-4) limited the JetHawks (33-28) to three hits over six innings, striking out six batters while walking two.

De Paula ran into trouble in the top of the fourth inning, as Derek Fisher led off with a single and stole second base. J.D. Davis was then hit by a pitch, and A.J. Reed walked to load the bases with none out. But a popout, a strikeout and a flyout ended the club's chances with all three runners left stranded.

Lancaster went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and stranded nine runners on base.

Lake Elsinore (27-34) scored its first run against JetHawks starter Kevin Comer (0-1) in the fourth inning. Gabriel Quintana hit a one-out double and Nick Schulz followed with a walk. After a strikeout, Adolfo Reina plated Quintana with a single to right-center to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.

Comer struck out four and walked three over 3.2 innings, allowing four hits.

With tandem starter Edison Frias on the mound for Lancaster in the eighth, Marcus Davis led off with a walk. Davis advanced to third on a Gabriel Quintana single, then scored on a passed ball by JetHawks catcher Alfredo Gonzalez. Three batters later, Reina hit his second RBI-single of the game for a 3-0 Lake Elsinore lead.

Closer Eric Yardley entered for the Storm with runners on first and third and one out in the top of the eighth. But the right-hander ended the threat as Jack Mayfield lined out to first, and J.D. Davis was doubled off as first baseman Marcus Davis touched the base to record the inning-ending, unassisted double play.

In the ninth, Yardley yielded a leadoff walk to pinch-hitter Ronnie Mitchell, but Yardley retired the next three batters to earn the save and hand the JetHawks the loss.

The series continues on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Daniel Mengden (1-0, 8.59) will start for the JetHawks, and Kyle Lloyd (3-3, 4.14) will pitch for the Storm.
