SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The Inland Empire 66ers pounded out seven runs on eleven hits in support of rehabbing Jason Schmidt on Sunday afternoon, winning 7-3 over the Lake Elsinore Storm.

Schmidt (1-1) picked up the victory, lasting 7 innings in which he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits (all doubles) and 3 walks while fanning 6 Storm batters.

The Sixers got to Storm starter Corey Kluber (4-3) in the second, scoring three runs. Alex Garabedian and Garett Green each had back-to-back RBI singles and finished the game 2-for-4.

On top of this two RBI singles, Green also made a spectacular grab in the fifth inning, sliding across the bullpen mound on the right field side to snag a foul pop up off the bat of Keoni Ruth.

Inland Empire was aided by some sloppy Storm fielding in the third inning. After Justin Fuller led off the inning with a single to center, Eduardo Perez hit what appeared to be a double-play ball. Felix Carrasco fielded the ball at first and made a wide throw towards second, pulling Keoni Ruth off the bag. Meanwhile, Fuller kept going around second towards third and was awarded the base on fielder's interference after getting knocked down by third baseman Justin Baum. Fuller came around to score on a double to right by Steven Caseres before being replaced by Elian Herrera the rest of the way in left field.

Inland Empire added another run in the sixth before Herrera put the game out of reach with a two-run shot to right field off Neil Jamison in the bottom of the seventh, Herrera's first homer on the season.

Lake Elsinore picked up a run in the fourth with consecutive doubles from Justin Baum and Luis Martinez. They would later add a single run in the sixth on an RBI double over the head of Herrera in left, driving in Logan Forsythe from first.

Kluber was charged with the loss, giving up 5 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits and a walk, while striking out 8 in his 6 innings of work.

The 66ers look for a series split against the Lake Elsinore Storm Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Alberto Bastardo (2-2, 4.58) takes the mound for the Sixers, as the Storm hand the ball to Jeremy Hefner (3-4, 4.10). It's Kids Eat Free Monday presented by the County of San Bernardino at Arrowhead Credit Union Park, all child's tickets include a voucher for one hot dog, one soda, and a bag of chips. Tickets are available at the 66ers box office at 280 South E Street in San Bernardino or by calling 909-888-9922
