West Texas Roughnecks News Release
ODESSA, TX. As the All-Star weekend grows near, coaches from around the Intense Football League compared notes on Wednesday and selected the team that would face the Host Cities Corpus Christi Hammerheads on Sunday July 11th at the first-ever IFL All-Star game. With several cities only sending four players, the Roughnecks have earned a whopping 6 spots on this 2004 team and they are as follows:
Roger Linn - QB 6'3 200, Arkansas Pine Bluff; Las Vagas Nevada
Roger has made the All-Star team after leading the roughnecks to four wins in six starts at quarterback spot. Roger came to the Roughnecks after playing in three games with the Birmingham Steeldogs AFL2. Roger has thrown for over 1100 yds. and 26 touchdowns in 6 games in Odessa.
Heyward Skipper - WR 6'1 180, Troy State University; Baxley Ga.
Heyward Skipper made the all-star team after battling a number of injures at the first of camp. Making a strong come back Skipper has put up fine numbers over the course of the last five weeks. Heyward has scored 16 receiving touchdowns since getting back in the line up from week three.
Marcus Wiggins - FB/LB 6'0 235, Tuskegee University; Mobile AL.
Marcus Wiggins has been a big part in the Roughneck's goaline offense. Marcus has managed to score six touchdowns this season. Marcus is also a big part of the Roughneck's defense where he has made over 30 tackles.
Jermaine Blakely - OL/DL 6'3 295, Stillman College; Tampa FL.
Jermaine has turned out to be one of our most exciting defensive players. Jermaine is an aggressive and strong defense force that has pressured opposing quarterbacks consistently through out the season. Jermaine has been a strong player on special teams as well blocking 4 field goals.
John McDermott - OL/DL 6'5 285, Clemson University; Acworth Ga.
John has been one of our most consistent pass blockers through 7 games he has not given up any QB sacks. John has also seen time on our defensive line, as well as special teams.
Michael Feagin - DB 5'9 185, University Of Alabama; Montgomery AL.
Micheal has been a profound leader in the secondary, inspite of his small stature, Feagin has been matched up with our opponent's best receivers and has done a great job of shutting that receiver down.
