
Six Players with Silvertips Experience Named to NHL Opening Night Rosters

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), six-time U.S. Division champion and defending Western Conference champions of the Western Hockey League, announced today that six players who have previously competed with the Silvertips have been named to opening night rosters for the 2018-19 National Hockey League season.
The following players are:
(D) Radko Gudas - Philadelphia Flyers
(D) Noah Juulsen - Montreal Canadiens
(F) Jujhar Khaira - Edmonton Oilers
(D) Mirco Mueller - New Jersey Devils
(D) Ryan Murray - Columbus Blue Jackets
(F) Nikita Scherbak - Montreal Canadiens
The Silvertips have sent 18 players with experience in an Everett uniform to play in the National Hockey League, most recently Juulsen who also scored his first career NHL goal against the New York Islanders on Feb. 3, 2018 as a member of the Montreal Canadiens.
All 31 NHL teams boast at least one WHL Alumni, with the Edmonton Oilers holding the largest number of WHL graduates on opening night with eight players listed. The Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers and Winnipeg Jets all include seven previous WHL players each while the Vegas Golden Knights and the Vancouver Canucks start the season with six WHL graduates. A total of 132 players who have suited up in the WHL are a part of NHL opening night rosters.
Regarded as the world's finest development league for junior hockey players, the Western Hockey League (WHL) consists of 22 member Clubs with 17 located in Western Canada and five in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. A member of the Canadian Hockey League, the WHL has been a leading supplier of talent for the National Hockey League for over 50 years. The WHL is also the leading provider of hockey scholarships with over 350 graduates each year receiving WHL Scholarships to pursue a post-secondary education of their choice. Each season, WHL players also form the nucleus of Canada's National Junior Hockey Team.
The Silvertips return home to AOTW Arena on Friday, Oct. 5 for Pink The Rink vs. the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:35 p.m. presented by presented by Safeway and Providence Regional Medical Center.
