Six Former Ottawa Lynx To Play In 2004 MLB Playoffs

OTTAWA – The 2004 Major League Baseball playoffs begin this afternoon, and as you cheer on your favorite team, you might notice some former Ottawa Lynx in the playoff matchups. Four players and one manager on the rosters of the teams vying for the World Series have spent time here in Ottawa as members of the Ottawa Lynx Baseball Club.

Former Lynx who are on playoff rosters this year (year with Lynx in parentheses): Anaheim Angels outfielder Curtis Pride (1993-95, 2001); Boston Red Sox shortstop Orlando Cabrera (1997-98, 2000); Houston Astros catcher Raul Chavez (1997-99), Los Angeles Dodger outfielder Milton Bradley (2000-01) and field manager Jim Tracy (1994); and finally New York Yankees starting pitcher Javier Vazquez (1999).

There are four other former Lynx players who are on playoff teams but have not been added to the playoff roster. Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Drew (2002), Boston Red Sox catcher Sandy Martinez (2002), Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Scott Stewart (2001), and New York Yankees infielder Felix Escalona (2003) will at be ready for their respective teams should they be needed in later playoff rounds.
