Sioux City Bandits News Release
The Sioux City Bandits announce a major milestone in their long and dignified history. On January 20, 2021, long-time owner and manager, Bob Scott, finalized the sale of the Bandits to northwest Missouri businessman and entrepreneur, J.R. Bond.
"The decision to sell the Bandits was not an easy one and is a bittersweet day for me and my partners. We are proud to be the longest running team under the same ownership group in all of indoor football. We could not have done it with out the support of our great sponsors and fans. We also owe a debt of gratitude to our staff who are so devoted and worked so hard for this franchise." states Bob Scott. "We wish J. R. Bond the best of luck in this endeavor and will do everything to make this transition as smooth as possible."
It's not a secret Bob has his hands full, and his family is growing. We've seen them cheer on the Bandits since the beginning and they've grown up on Bandits football. Scott has set a solid foundation for indoor football in Siouxland, and I'm sure we will still see him and his family at the games.
"I am honored to carry on the tradition of the Sioux City Bandits. What Bob has built here is incredible. The Bandits are truly a community asset and I am humbled by Bob's trust to carry on what he started more than 20 years ago. We look forward to many more years of delivering affordable family entertainment to Sioux City." said Bond.
As we welcome our new owner, J. R. Bond, to the Sioux City Bandits, we eagerly anticipate the influx of ideas and energy a new endeavor always brings. This is not Bond's first venture into professional sports, however. He currently owns multiple minor league franchises in the Midwest and his sports philosophy revolves around his own children. He develops teams on a foundation of community involvement and entertainment. We know Bond also understands the great fans here in Siouxland, and wants to cultivate a relationship between the Bandits, their fans, and their sponsors.
More changes will be coming, and we look forward to what the 2021 season will bring. A formal press conference will be held introducing Bond in the coming weeks.
