Sioux City Bandits sign Ex-Cardinal Brad Ottis for 2003

Today the Sioux City Bandits of the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) are pleased to announce the signing of Brad Ottis to contract for the 2003 season. Ottis is a 6'5"; 295 pound defensive end and will play defensive line for the Bandits. His resume is as follows:

· Born August 2, 1972

· Graduated from Fremont, NE High School in 1990

· Attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE in 1991 thru 1994. Ottis graduated in 1994 with a double major in Architecture and Graphic Design.

· NCAA Division II All-American at Wayne State in 1993 and 1994.

· Drafted in the Second Round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.

· Played with the 1995 Los Angeles Rams and 1996 thru 2000 with the Arizona Cardinals.

Head Coach Carl Reinhardt is ecstatic about the signing of Ottis, "Brad Ottis will be a marquee player for our team and the league. When we found out he was in the area and might be interested in playing again, we contacted him and sold him on the Sioux City Bandits and the NIFL. Anytime you can get a player with Brad's experience in the NFL it brings leadership to our team. We are thrilled to add another Wayne State player to the Bandits for 2003."

The Bandits also signed Jon Gas to the 2003 Roster. Jon is a 6'4" offensive lineman who tips the scales at 320 lbs. Gas played college football at Montana St. Most recently he played with the Norfolk Thunderbirds of the NAFL. The Thunderbirds are semi-pro team in Norfolk, NE.

Also today, Coach Reinhardt announced the Bandits seven assistant coaches for the 2003 season.

Matt Vandry - Offensive Coordinator. Vandry is currently the offensive coordinator for the Morningside Mustangs. Previously he was a coach at the University of Onawa in Kansas in 1999, Southwest Missouri State 1996-1998. He played wide receiver in college at the University of Kansas 1993-1995, and then transferred to Southwest Missouri State in 1996.

Darwin Bishop - Defensive Line. Bishop played for the Bandits in 2001 and 2002 and the Sioux City Attack in 2000. He attended South Dakota State University from 1985-1989, and was team captain of the Jacks in 1988. Darwin graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.

Rick (Raz) Vanderloo - Special Teams Coordinator/ Defensive Backs. Vanderloo has previously coached for the Bandits in 2002 and for the Sioux City Attack in 2000. He is currently an assistant coach at East High School in Sioux City, IA and has been at East High since 1996. Vanderloo has also been an assistant coach at Sioux City North, 1995, Woodbury Central, 1990-1994, Mormon Trail High School, 1989, The University of Iowa, 1988, and Morningside College in 1987. Kurt Walker - Wide Receivers. Walker played college football at Morningside College from 1989 to 1991 where he was an NCAA D-II All-American.

The Bandits have scheduled their first Tryout Camp for December 7, 2003 at the Southridge Golf Club and Dome, 619 W. 29th St. in South Sioux City, NE. The tryout will get underway at 7:00 AM with registration. Cost to tryout is $50.00 the day of, and pre-registration is $40.00.

The Bandits 2003 season will start on the road at LaCrosse against the Night Train on March 14, with the Bandits home opener on March 29 against the Red Dogs of Rapid City.
