The Sioux Falls Storm is pleased to announce that wide receiver Carl Sims will be leaving the team in pursuit of a career in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Sims will join the British Columbia Lions on June 1, 2011, the first day of training camp.

2011 marked the first season with the Storm for Western Illinois alumni. While with the Storm, Sims played in seven of nine games, and currently leads the team with 12 touchdowns. Sims became a favorite target of quarterback Chris Dixon over the season, as he caught 21 passes for 404 total yards. Sims averaged 19.7 yards per catch, his longest being 45 yards.

"It's great to see great athletes like Carl use the Sioux Falls Storm as a platform to bigger opportunities," said Storm Owner, Todd Tryon. "Our number one goal is to create an atmosphere for young character players like Carl to succeed at the highest level possible. Carl is an exceptional talent and will represent the Storm and the IFL as a whole in his pursuit to the highest level of football."

The Sioux Falls Storm is home Sunday, May 15 at 2:05pm at the Sioux Falls Arena against the Green Bay Blizzard.
