Everett Silvertips News Release

The Everett Silvertips remained successful both on and off the ice in 2007-08, as the club finished with a winning record for the fifth consecutive year while drawing over 230,000 fans. Through five years in Everett, the ‘Tips have welcomed over 1.3 million fans into Comcast Arena while compiling 201 wins as they have proven to be the archetypal franchise in the Western Hockey League.

Featuring a 39-30-0-3 record this year, the Silvertips assured themselves of their fifth consecutive winning season since the inception of the franchise. Everett has averaged over forty wins per season over that time, having won the franchise's 200th regular season game in a 5-2 victory at Tri-City on March 4th. No stranger to playoff success, Everett advanced to the WHL Championships as an expansion team in 2004, and has won a total of seven playoff series in its existence. In addition to the 2003 Western Conference Championship, the Silvertips have won three U.S. Division titles in their five years of existence.

With one of the most highly regarded scouting departments in all of junior hockey, the Silvertips continue to pinpoint and develop top-tier talent. This coming June, the team looks to produce its fourth first round NHL draft pick when forward Kyle Beach is expected to be chosen as a lottery selection. Much of the club's success can be traced back to the distinguished 2003 WHL Bantam Draft, in which the Silvertips selected three future first round NHL selections, as well as a second rounder and a third rounder through their first six picks. Selected in the second round of that 2003 draft, nineteen year old center Peter Mueller recently completed a prolific rookie season with the Phoenix Coyotes, in which he tallied 22 goals and 54 points and is considered to be a favorite for NHL Rookie of the Year honors.

The on-ice success has transferred over to the box office, as Everett averaged 6,424 fans per game this year and finished with over 230,000 fans for the fifth consecutive season. Including playoffs, the Silvertips sold their one millionth ticket in March, 2007, prior to the team's 141st regular season game. Featuring a franchise-record eight sellouts this season, the Silvertips have now sold out the state-of-the-art 8,200 seat Comcast Arena 26 times in the club's history.

The success of the club and of the Comcast Arena has vigorously revitalized Everett's downtown and waterfront as many new companies and stores have chosen to relocate immediately outside of the multi-purpose stadium. Land values have increased as downtown Everett has become a shopper's mecca, featuring a multitude of restaurants, outdoor cafes, and a vibrant nightlife scene.

Though the regular season has concluded, ticket packages for next season are currently on sale. For ticket information, including season seats and mini-plans, please call the Silvertips' front office at (425) 252-5100. As always, radio coverage of Silvertips hockey will be provided by ESPN Radio KRKO 1380, while highlights of audio broadcast, video packages and relevant multimedia will be provided by the Western Hockey League's website, www.whl.ca.
