Silvertips Get Ready for US Division Match Up vs. Americans

The Everett Silvertips capped off a super week by defeating the Chilliwack Bruins 4-3 in overtime on Sunday night at the Everett Events Center to post a 4-0 record for the week. The Silvertips, having already clinched a playoff berth in the 2007 WHL Playoffs, currently are in first place in the US Division and have the overall best record in the WHL with a 40-7-0-2 (82 points) record. The Silvertips will play three games this week against Western Conference opponents. On Wednesday night, January 31, the Silvertips battle the Tri-City Americans in a pivotal US Division match up at the Everett Events Center at 7:05 p.m. The Silvertips and the Americans will face off again on Friday night, February 2, in Kennewick, WA at the Toyota Center at 7:05 p.m. Everett returns home at the Everett Events Center on Saturday night, February 3, to battle the Chilliwack Bruins to finish off the week at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for Wednesday and Saturday night's game are currently on sale by logging onto www.everettsilvertips.com or by calling the EEC Box Office at 1-866-332-8499.

SILVERTIPS LEADING SCORERS

The Silvertips are led in scoring by Zach Hamill (21 goals, 47 assists) with 68 points. Peter Mueller (13 goals, 47 assists) is 2nd on the hockey club in scoring with 60 points. Kyle Beach (25 goals, 25 assists) is 3rd on the team in scoring with 50 points. Mueller and Hamill currently lead the Silvertips in assists (47) while Moises Gutierrez (31 goals, 14 assists) leads the team in goals scored (31) and power play goals (23). Silvertips forward Kyle Beach leads the hockey club in +/- with a +21. In goal, Leland Irving has posted 25 wins, 1.73 GAA, 93.4% SP and 7 Shutouts. David Reekie is currently 15-3 with the Silvertips and has posted a 1.43 GAA, 93.6% SP and 3 shutouts with Everett this season.

EVERETT SILVERTIPS AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS

Silvertips forward Zach Hamill (21 goals, 47 assists) is 1st in the WHL in scoring with 68 points. Peter Mueller (13 goals, 47 assists) is currently tied for 5th in the WHL in scoring with 60 points. Both Mueller and Hamill are tied for 1st in the WHL in assists (47). Moises Gutierrez (31 goals, 14 assists) is tied for 3rd in the WHL in goals scored (31) and 1st in power play goals (23). First year forward Kyle Beach (25 goals, 25 assists) is 5th in the WHL in rookie scoring with 50 points and is the leading scorer among all 16 year olds in the WHL. Defenseman Jason Fransoo (7 goals, 27 assists) is 9th among all WHL defensemen in scoring with 34 points. In goal, Leland Irving is leading all WHL netminders in GAA (1.73), SP (93.4%), tied for 1st in Shutouts (7) and 3rd in Wins (25). David Reekie is currently for 2nd in the WHL in GAA (1.76) and 2nd in SP (92.2%).

SPECIALITY TEAMS

The Silvertips are currently 1st in the WHL on the power play (88 for 400, 22.0%) and 2nd in the WHL on the penalty kill (322 of 358, 89.9%).

SILVERTIPS HOME AND ROAD RECORDS

The Silvertips are 22-1-0-1 at the Everett Events Center this season and 18-6-0-1 on the road.

VERSUS THE US DIVISION

ZACH HAMILL NAMED WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Everett Silvertips forward Zach Hamill was named The Boston Pizza WHL Player of the Week during the week of January 22 to January 28. The Port Coquitlam, BC native recorded 4 goals and 9 assists for 13 points in 4 games to help the Silvertips to a 4-0 record last week.

Hamill along with Silvertips forward Dan Gendur posted a franchise record, 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists) in a 9-0 victory over the Portland Winter Hawks in Portland, OR last Friday night. Hamill, who is eligible for the 2007 NHL Draft, is currently leading the WHL in scoring with 68 points (21 goals, 47 assists). Zach is also the Silvertips all time leader in points (162), goals (50) and assists (112).

Hamill becomes the second Silvertip to earn WHL Player of the Week honors. Earlier this season, Silvertips forward Peter Mueller was named WHL Player of the Week for the week of October 30 to November 5.

VERSUS THE TRI-CITY AMERICANS

Wednesday night will be the fourth of eight meetings between the two US Division rivals. The Silvertips are 2-0-0-1 against the Americans this season and 2-0 against the Ams' at the Everett Events Center and 0-0-0-1 against Tri-City in Kennewick, WA. The Silvertips are 17-11-2 (OT)-1(SOL)-3 (Ties) all time against the Americans in franchise history. Everett is 10-4-0-0-3 (Ties) all time against Tri-City at the Everett Events Center and 7-7-2 (OTL)-1 (SOL) all time against the Ams' in Kennewick, WA. VERSUS THE CHILLIWACK BRUINS
