Silverbacks Bring Home Inaugural Win

(TROY,OH)-One down, thirteen to go. The Miami Valley Silverbacks brought home their first win of the season after beating the Syracuse Soldiers 54-30, leaving the Silverbacks tied for second place in the northern league.

"This was a great win for the team," said Head Coach Matt King. "We had a bye week the first week of the season so the guys were ready to play and definitely ready to bring home a win." "Now we're looking ahead to Huntington."

The Silverbacks took first blood in the first quarter with a four-yard pass from Kerrick Cooper to Dan Fry. Fry scored two of the five touchdowns. Travis Pugh had two interceptions. Maurice Lee ran in for two touchdowns. Cooper and Bell also ran in for a pair and Owens finished it off with a touchdown reception late in the fourth quarter.

Saturday, the Silverbacks travel to Huntington to take on the Heroes. Game time is 7 pm and will be webcast on www.gosilverbacks.com.

The Silverbacks' home opener is set for Saturday, April1, 7pm at Hobart Arena. The first 500 kids under 12 get in free. Call 339.2911 for tickets.
