Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

ATLANTA (August 30, 2011) - The Atlanta Silverbacks have agreed to a contract with goalkeeper ERIC ATI, pending USSF approval.

Ati, a native of Cameroon who moved to the Atlanta area at the age of seven, spent the past several months playing in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) for the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves. The 22-year-old goalkeeper is the first Reserves player to sign with the Silverbacks professional team this season.

A four-year starter for Southern Polytechnic State University, Ati earned NAIA First Team All-American honors for his play during his senior season. Ati led his team to an undefeated conference record in 2010, and he played a key role in the Hornets' playoff win over defending national champions Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.), saving two of four penalties kicks in the deciding shootout.

Ati, who trained with the Silverbacks professional team during the preseason, played with the Reserves this summer while he finished his college degree. The 5-foot-10 goalkeeper was selected as an NPSL Southeast Division All-Star.

Ati is training with the team this week, and he will be available for Saturday's Silverbacks game against the Puerto Rico Islanders.

The Silverbacks also today released forward EMSAD ZAHIROVIC, whose contract was terminated because of breach of contract.
